“Mechanical earthing”: decoupling devices by propagating vibrations to the ground.

Evidence proposes the concept of “mechanical earthing” to decouple Epure units or other devices from hi-fi installations and speakers. The team built upon the work done by Georges Bernard for Goldmund on “mechanical grounding”. A single cone channels the vibrations produced by the devices and by the music played, while two inert pods stabilize the whole.

The idea of a single drainage point is rooted in fluid mechanics, using the Euler method: the unsteady flow velocity of a particle is due to its non-uniformity, and the narrower the drainage point, the more uniform and rapid its evacuation.

Taking into account the convective and temporal constraints of fluid evacuation applied to vibrations, we also introduced the question of rotational flow. Since we do not want to eliminate vibrations, we regulate and accelerate their evacuation towards the most massive object at our disposal: the Earth. To speed up this energy transfer, we use materials tested for their hardness and neutrality.
